Pioneer stops producing plasma HDTVs, and it will probably only buy the plasma panels from some other manufacturer. It's hitting the very popular (for it's quality, not price ;) ) KURO series of HDTVs.

But have no fear Pioneer will now concentrate on the LCD technology, probably making it at least as good as the plasma one.

it's ending all in-house plasma panel production and will build HDTVs based on panels bought elsewhere. Should I go with Plasma or LCD? Do I need 32" or 60"? Are does HDMI connectors really necessary?
Maybe I should wait for the wider spread of Blu-ray?

To answer on of those questions, I found out that besides Plasma and LCD there is a third way a DLP (LED) way of displaying the video. There aren't many HDTV that use DLP as it wasn't very cheap earlier (cause they needed a replacement of some thingy inside the TV every year or so), but now when technology is better they last even longer than LCD (not to mention Plasma).

One of the examples of this family is the Samsung HLT5087SAX which I must say looks amazing when you look at the thin frames!

This time I was looking at Samsung FPT5084, it is a nice HDTV, yeah, it's not cheap, but it is 50 inches !

I saw that it has very good contrast 15000 to 1, most of the screens I was looking so far had only 5000 to 1.
